District Panchayat promoted a generating company called Palakkad Small Hydro Company Ltd and was incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956 on 20.01.1999 as per the direction of Govt. of Kerala in order to implement Hydro Electric projects in Palakkad District with following objectives.

(1) To Generate, transmit, distribute, buy sell and supply electricity and produce electricity from natural and other sources
(2) To carry on business as a generating company/ licensee/ sanction holder under the Indian electricity act 1910/ and or electricity (supply) act 1948.
